Giroud Signs Contract Extension At Chelsea

Olivier Giroud's contract at Chelsea has been extended for another year.
The Blues exercised his option in April, tying him to the team through 2022.

This summer, Giroud was linked with a move to AC Milan.

This season, Giroud has been a bit-part player for Chelsea, and he is expected to leave in pursuit of more regular first-team action.

The 34-year-old had looked all but set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after 3 and half seasons, but his contract was actually extended for another season in April, as the club's official release shows and verifies. This was an option incorporated into the existing contract, just as it was last year.

This doesn't rule out Giroud departing this summer, but it's no longer a guarantee now that he won't be a free agent.
