Man United In Discussion With Borussia Dortmund For Jadon Sancho Transfer

According to a reputable source, Manchester United has started talks with Borussia Dortmund about signing Jadon Sancho and are willing to pay the asking price.

The transfer saga, which would see the right winger return to his homeland after a stellar career in Germany, has gone on for almost a year, but according to Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic, United are now quite optimistic of completing the deal.

‘Negotiations over a price for the 21-year-old have started in earnest, and United have been offered encouragement that Borussia Dortmund will take a smaller amount than the asking price from last summer,' Whitwell claims.

‘Discussions came to a halt a year ago when Dortmund requested €120 million (£110 million) for the England winger, leaving little space for movement, although several sources claim a readiness to find a solution.

‘There is still work to be done on the fee, with the two teams now at odds on valuation.'

‘It is thought that United are willing to spend £80 million, a figure that was previously communicated in Germany as being acceptable to Dortmund.'

‘However, the Bundesliga club is rumoured to be demanding a further £20 million in possible add-ons. That is not a minor omission.'

The fact is that, as Whitwell points out, if the only issue to be resolved is the bonuses and add-ons, there is a good possibility that an agreement will be reached.

According to the Athletic writer, there is "a willingness to compromise" and Old Trafford sources sound upbeat at this level."

The player is said to be enthusiastic about the move, and all personal terms have been agreed upon since last summer, so there should be no issues there.
