Olivier Giroud Linked With AC Milan Move Despite Signing Contract Extension

Olivier Giroud has been earmarked as a transfer target for Italian side AC Milan despite recently signing a contract extension at Chelsea until June 2022.

Chelsea triggered the option of an extra one year in the Frenchman's contract, but recent reports cast some doubts over the Frenchman's future.

The 34-year-old has been linked with a move to San Siro, and Giroud recently spoke about his administration for the Italian side while speaking to Goal in an interview, he said;

“It’s fair to say that I liked [former Milan stars] Marco van Basten and Andriy Shevchenko."

“Milan are a big club and one of the great teams in Europe.”

He however stated that he's mind is currently set on France Euro 2020 campaign which kicks off against Germany.

Chelsea will almost certainly be looking for a new number nine this summer – Timo Werner was the club's top scorer last season with just six goals – and, while that wouldn't necessarily have any bearing on Giroud on the pitch, it does feel like the missing piece that could propel the Champions League winners to a sixth Premier League title.
