In the hunt to sign Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum on a free transfer, Paris Saint-Germain has reportedly surged ahead of Barcelona.
Before PSG offered the 30-year-old a more lucrative deal, the Netherlands international appeared to be on the point of joining Barcelona.
Barca is reportedly considering offering a better contract than the one previously offered in order to beat out competition from the French heavyweights for the Dutchman's signature.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Wijnaldum is now prepared to accept Mauricio Pochettino's contract, which would double what Barcelona offered.
According to Romano, unless Ronald Koeman's contract is modified in the coming hours, the Liverpool midfielder will join Ligue 1 side PSG on a free transfer.
