Swiss international midfielder, Granit Xhaka is reportedly ‘edging closer' to joining Serie A heavyweights AS Roma from Arsenal.
Jose Mourinho has declared Xhaka one of his top summer targets, with discussions between the two teams already beginning, with Arsenal reportedly wanting £21.5 million for the 28-year-old.
Roma, on the other hand, are only willing to spend around £10 - £15 million for him.
According to Chris Wheatley of Football.london, the deal is now ‘edging closer' to being finalized.
Xhaka has played a key role in Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta's reign, both as a central midfield partner for Thomas Partey and as a temporary left-back.
Gunners officials were afraid last month, according to SunSport, that the experienced midfielder might push for a trade elsewhere.
Mourinho, the former manager of Tottenham Hotspur, is a fan and has already began talks to bring the Swiss international to Roma.
The Special One has previously shown his respect for Xhaka.
