Wijnaldum Signs Three Years Deal With PSG

Following his departure from Liverpool, Georginio Wijnaldum has signed a three-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Holland midfielder, who turns 31 later this year, was unable to agree fresh terms with the Reds after talks broke down over his wage and the length of his new contract due to his age, and he said his goodbyes in front of a crowd of 10,000 at home to Crystal Palace in the season's final match.

He was linked with a reunion with former Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman at Barcelona, but with the Catalan club's finances in shambles, PSG became the preferred option.

Wijnaldum told psg.fr, "Signing with Paris Saint Germain is a new challenge for me."

“I'm joining one of Europe's top squads, and I want to give everything I've got to this big undertaking."
“Paris St Germain has proven how brilliant they are in recent years, and I am confident that we can go even far and higher together, with our supporters.”

After the player's presence in Paris was confirmed, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp delivered a beautiful tribute to him.

He told liverpoolfc.com, "I shall miss the player like crazy – highest-quality ability, one of the smartest players I have ever had the opportunity to teach."
“His impact was incredible, and he's a manager's dream. But as a person, he'll leave a similar void.

“Of course, he now belongs to someone else, and on behalf of the team, we wish him the best of luck with PSG in France.

“Goodbye, Gini: you came, you saw, and you took it all. Now and forever, you're a Liverpool legend.”
