AS Roma's move for Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka could be hijacked by fellow Seria A rivals Juventus.
The Swiss captain has been in excellent form for his side at Euro 2020, helping them advance to the quarter-finals by defeating France on penalty on Monday.
For much of this summer, he has also been the target of transfer interest from AS Roma.
The Rome outfit are still interested in signing him, but they are unable to reach Arsenal's asking price.
According to Calciomercato, the Rome outfit may miss out on signing him to Juventus due to their inability to meet Arsenal's asking price for the Switzerland international.
The Bianconeri are also in the market for a new midfielder, and are currently in talks with Sassuolo to sign Manuel Locatelli. But the deal is looking unlikely as Juventus are only willing to offer a cash plus player deal, while Sassuolo remain firm that any buying club will have to pay €40m for Locatelli.
However, they appear to be having difficulty reaching an agreement, and the report claims that if they are unable to sign the Green and Blacks midfielder, they will turn to Xhaka as an alternative.
They saw him perform well at the Euros and are willing to make room in their team for him next season.
Arsenal are willing to let go of Xhaka, and would be delighted if other clubs expressed an interest in him, as this would lead to a bidding war and subsequently boost his transfer fee.
