Georginio Wijnaldum thought to be leaving Liverpool this summer and going to Barcelona on a free transfer before this evening. Only the medical stood between the 30-year-old midfielder and the Nou Camp, according to the reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
According to a report from Spanish outlet El Chiringuito, PSG are prepared to compete with Barca for the soon-to-be free agent. According to journalist Jose Alvarez Haya, PSG is planning to offer the Dutchman a contract worth double that of Barcelona, totaling roughly 8 million euros, as well as a three-year agreement worth a total of 24 million euros in Paris.
Perhaps most importantly for Barcelona fans, the message concludes on a sour note, suggesting that the Spanish club remains Wijnaldum's first option, a reality only bolstered by Ronald Koeman's confirmation as manager next season.
According to Haya, everything will be disclosed next week. Wijnaldum will make a final decision and his departure from Anfield will be finalized, most likely before the Netherlands first group game at the Euro 2020, when they take on Ukraine.
