Tottenham are said to have given up on their attempt to employ Antonio Conte as their new manager for the upcoming season.
It's the latest setback for Spurs, who recently declared defeat in their pursuit of Mauricio Pochettino, their former manager.
Conte, the former Chelsea manager, left Inter Milan last week and has expressed interest in returning to the Premier League.
Following the sacking of Jose Mourinho, Tottenham made rehiring former coach Pochettino a priority, but the Argentine's departure was delayed by Paris Saint-Germain.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy immediately turned his attention to Conte, meeting with him on Wednesday.
Conte, however, will not be named Tottenham's next manager, according to multiple reports, capping off a disastrous week for the north London club.
Conte was claimed to have'major reservations' before Spurs pulled the plug, according to Sky Italia.
According to reliable Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, Antonio Conte wanted to bring more than four members of staff to Tottenham, but Spurs were hesitant. The salary proposal gap is estimated to be over €3 million. Another issue is investments and projects to win ‘as quickly as possible.' That's why talks with Conte have come to a halt due to a lack of agreement.
