Arsenal Make €40m Bid For Italian Midfielder

Arsenal have made an official €40m bid for Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli according to Sassuolo chief Giovanni Carnevali, stating that the Gunners have made a 'very important' offer for Locatelli.

Locatelli, 23, has a lot of suitors after a succession of strong performances for Italy at Euro 2020, with the Azurri now in the quarter finals of the competition.

According to reports, Juventus are in pole position to entice him away from Sassuolo, where he had spent the previous three years following his departure from AC Milan.

But, according to Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali, Arsenal are the only club to have made a formal bid for Locatelli.

“Arsenal have made an official offer for Locatelli,” He told Sky Italia.

"They're making a strong effort to sign Manuel, and it's a significant offer... we'll see.

Despite Arsenal's interest, Juve remain the favorites to sign Locatelli from Sassuolo.

The player preference is to move to Juventus, but reports suggest that he is entirely open to moving out of Italy to ply his trade abroad.

Locatelli, on the other hand, is definitely one of Arteta's top transfer targets, since Arsenal has made an offer to sign the Italian midfielder.

Since leaving Milan in 2018, he has made 99 appearances for Sassuolo, starting on a season-long loan before making the move permanent a year later.
