Sergio Ramos, a former Real Madrid stalwart who is regarded as one of the best defenders in the world, has agreed to a two-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain, according to the French club.
35-year-old Ramos, is a four-time Champions League winner with Real, as well as a World Cup winner and two-time European champion with Spain. The veteran, who has 180 caps and 23 goals for his country, joins PSG as they look to bolster their squad in preparation for another run at the Champions League.
In a statement released by PSG, Ramos said, "It's a significant transition in my life, a new challenge, and a day I'll never forget."
Ramos, who began his career with Sevilla before joining Real in 2005, appeared in nearly 500 games for Los Blancos, captaining the team and won La Liga five times.
He also scored some important goals, including an injury-time equalizer against city rivals Atletico Madrid in the 2014 Champions League final. Real went on to win 4-1, claiming their eleventh trophy in the competition, and Ramos remained a key member of the team as they won four continental trophies in five seasons under French coach Zinedine Zidane between 2016 and 2018.
