Mikel Arteta Confirms Granit Xhaka Will Remain At Arsenal This Summer

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has confirmed that midfielder Granit Xhaka will remain at the club and will not be sold this summer.

The Switzerland international made his pre-season debut when the Gunners faced fellow Premier League rivals Chelsea at the Emirates on Sunday.

Xhaka, who scored the Gunners' lone goal in the 2-1 defeat, has been linked with a move to Italian side AS Roma this summer.

Xhaka has been earmarked as a top target by Jose Mourinho, who has previously stated his desire to sign the former Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder.

However, Mikel Arteta stated after the game on Sunday that Arsenal intends to keep Xhaka and that he will not be allowed to leave this summer.

He stated; "Granit is going to be staying with us, He’s a player that we value so much, he’s a key member of our squad."

"He wanted to play today and I think it’s he showed why he wants to be here."

After the match, Xhaka took to Instagram to reiterate Arteta's remarks, referring to the Emirates as his "home."
