Manchester United Eye Move For Atletico Madrid Defender

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier in the forthcoming transfer window, according to the Daily Mail, as Ole Gunnar Solksjaer aims to bolster his defensive options ahead of the 2021/22 season.

The England international's current deal expires in a few years, but according to rumours, he is pondering returning to his homeland. The Spanish club will consider any offers for the player, as they are in a financial crisis as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This season, the 30-year-old recorded six assists in 35 games for Atletico Madrid in all competitions as they won La Liga for the eleventh time in club history.
Trippier has put up some impressive stats in the Spanish top division this season, both defensively and offensively, averaging 2.2 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, 1.7 clearances, 1.2 crucial passes, 1.2 crosses, 2.2 long balls, and 0.9 dribbles per 90 minutes.

Since his £50 million move from Crystal Palace to Old Trafford last summer, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been nothing short of a success for the Red Devils. United, on the other hand, is short on competent backups in this area, with 20-year-old Brandon Williams (who is actually a left back) currently the only plausible option. Furthermore, the Solskjaer does not appear to think much of Diogo Dalot.
The addition of Kieran Trippier will definitely create healthy competition, which may just bring out the best in the 23-year-old defender, who has a lot of room for improvement offensively. Furthermore, the Atletico Madrid star would provide United a totally different alternative in games where breaking down a shaky opposing defense is the order of the day.
