Crystal Palace Set To Sign Reading Youngster

Crystal Palace are on the verge of signing Reading winger Michael Olise, making him their first signing of the summer for new manager Patrick Vieira.


Accoding to report, Olise has agreed personal terms on a long-term deal with Palace, and he will be presented by the Eagles soon to kick-start the club's new era.


After activating a release clause in his Reading contract, the teenager, who was born in England but has represented France at youth international level, would cost Palace £8 million.


Olise became a first-team regular last season after making his senior debut at the age of 17 and earning his first professional contract with the Royals. In the Championship, he made 44 appearances, scoring seven goals and assisting on another 12 occasions. 


Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea have all showed an interest in him, and his younger brother Richard is currently a member of Chelsea's youth system.


Olise's progress was also being monitored by Paris Saint-Germain, Monaco, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayern Munich, all of whom have a track record of fostering young talent.


The addition of Olise will be part of a major squad restructure at Palace ahead of the new season. Apart from waving farewell to Roy Hodgson and welcoming new manager Vieira, as many as 11 first-team players, including Andros Townsend and Patrick van Aanholt, have left as free agents.
